The difference between a sauce and a dressing

What's the difference between a sauce and a dressing?

I came across this question on LinkedIn, and to be honest, it's something I'd never thought about before! And yet it's a good question.

Turns out the difference is something like this: generally speaking, sauces are cooked and often served warm, whereas dressings are not cooked and served cold.

Now, the picture features a sauce which is sold in a bottle, so a sauce isn't necessarily served warm.

Something for your hospitality vocab.

Just a note on LinkedIn. If you've not created an account yet, you might be missing out. There are plenty of discussions around the hospitality sphere going on, on LinkedIn.

It gives you an opportunity to meet likeminded people. So give it a shot!
